Caroline Ingram, AICP, Community Forestry Planner, MS
Carolina Ingram works closely with communities in Mississippi to build resiliency through conservation and restoration of urban forests. Through GIC’s TreesMS program, she aids in the establishment and revision of tree ordinances, assessment of urban canopy cover and related benefits, urban forest master planning and tree planting, and community engagement and training.
Caroline began her career as an urban planner for the City of Hattiesburg, MS. In that position, she was responsible for site plan review, ordinance research, floodplain management, and facilitation of planning and zoning board meetings.
Before joining GIC, Caroline worked as a project manager for a non-profit in the water sector. In that role, she oversaw water infrastructure projects in rural communities throughout Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee. Prior to her project management work, she held a position as an environmental specialist, where she provided technical assistance to small water systems in disadvantaged communities in Mississippi.
Caroline holds a Master of Science degree in Geography from the University of Southern Mississippi. While in graduate school, she taught weather and climate lab sections and worked on climate reconstruction studies in the biogeography lab. Her thesis research focused on sustainable practices in wastewater management. She holds an American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification and is a member of the American Planning Association and the Mississippi Section of the American Planning Association. She lives in Hattiesburg, MS, with her husband and their terribly spoiled dog and cats.
